The biggest story to come out of the May 17th Primary is this: The future of the Republican Party in Philadelphia rests on the outcome of the Mayoral Primary.
At 11:25PM with 95% of the vote in, John Featherman is winning by only 4 votes.
FOUR VOTES.
He currently has 8,120 votes while Karen Brown has 8,116. Karen Brown is the endorsed candidate of the Republican Party who, until this year, was a life-long Democrat. Its been largely insinuated that the change of party wasn't a change of idolatry as much as it was a real part of the Republican Party of Philadelphia to lose this election. Why that's the case, I have no real idea.
Meanwhile, John Featherman is completely anti-establishment. He's literally is running against the establishment because the Republican Party heads don't like him. He's a Progressive Republican who's pro-legalization of drugs and is also pro-choice. His ads have made fun of the fact that Philly has become such a one-party town and is pointing out everything wrong with it.
At 11:36PM, the margin is down to only 3 votes with 95% remaining.
Would the Republican Party of Philadelphia actually force a recount?
If they did, they would be doing one of two things; First, they would be saying that, yes, they did give a damn about this election and they are taking their candidate seriously. The second would be that they see John Featherman as a threat. I think it would be the later, and doing so is just going to make the local party weaker. In either case, we would see a LOT more coverage of the Republican Party of Philadelphia, which more than anything could help spawn a real debate of how to get back a two-party system in Philly.
On the flip-side, John Featherman could demand a recall. Would the Republican's deny him one out of fear?
It's 11:41PM. The total now is John Featherman with 8,121 and Karen Brown with 8,118. Who will win?

Philly Polticis: The Good, The Bad, and the STUPID!
The Good:
1. Ballot Battles!
Milton Street, despite most likely forging his petitions as well as not even living in Philly, was somehow approved to be on the ballot. The upside? The Nutter Campaign is battling his petition and residency! I was recently harassed by one of his petitioners before the deadline (I'll leave it there, maybe tell the story one day soon), and on top of the fact that I don't think he should be elgible to run at all... Well, it's a red-letter day for me!
Czar, pardon me, City Councilman Darrell Clake has just had his petition challenged as well! You may know Darrell Clarke as the City Councilperson from the 5th District who's chief accomplishment's are trying to track when you buy cigarettes, alcohol, and Sharpie Markers, wanted to ban Satellite Dishes, passed a hate crime bill that was simply redundant and pointless, as well tried to pass a promoters bill that would have harmed Philly only because he didn't like the fact he couldn't park closer to his house.
His petition is being challenged by his only challenger, Suzanne Carn, who's husband is former state Rep. Andrew Carn. I hope it works and we see Clarke have to pack his bags and go!
2. The Corrupt Establishment Is LEAVING!
Councilpersons Joan L. Krajewski , Donna Reed Miller, Frank DiCicco, and Anna Verna are GONE! Their done! Retired! Adios! For the record, I met Anna once when I was running, and she was very nice, same with Frank DiCicco who tried to help me lower the age requirement. That aside, politically, I am glad to see all four of these people go. We need some fresh blood in City Council, and a more progressive governing body to challenge Nutter!
The Bad:
1. The Philadelphia Republican's can't seem to get their stuff together!
WHAT THE HELL?! Come on, it's wide open! You're up against someone who promised hope and change, and instead all we got were new tax ideas that were terrible and stupid and treated us like kids! He lied to the city about stopping casinos! The guy is as popular as a wet sock, but no one is really challenging him because, frankly, who wants this mess?! The Democrats in Philly are about as progressive as a donkey stuck in mud, and the best the Republican's can do is somebody no one's heard of?!
Plus, they never even bothered to give me a call or send me an e-mail! I'm on Facebook! Call me!
2. Charles Ramsey might be leaving.
Even though I was tough as hell on the guy before he got here, I have to admit, he's done a good job, and he's tried his damnedest to try and clean up the local police department. If he goes, hopefully we'll get someone who's just as good, if not better.
The STUPID:
Simply put: The fact that Milton Street was allowed to get on the ballot without the Election Office VERIFYING everything first! WHAT THE HELL!
Oh: And ANYONE who thinks Milton running is "entertaining"! What the hell is wrong with the people in media thinking it's a GOOD thing? The guy's a criminal, a jerk, and an incompetent politician!

Hurricanes and Republlicans: Can We Just Shut Up?
I've been a junkie for 24/7 news and pretty much any coverage about Hurricane Gustav hitting New Orleans, LA, and the entire Western Gulf Coast. At the same time, I was excited about the Republican National Convention and seeing the coverage for it. The reason for that was two-fold; I avoided anything dealing with the Democratic one because of the basic non-stop "Obamania" thing that was going on with the media about it. At the same time, it's going to be hilarious to have to watch Keith Olbermann to try and be fair in his coverage of a party he absolutely hates.
But with this hurricane, the reaction, not by the press, but by people who hate the Republican Party, has been pretty damn sick.
Again, I am a registered Republican right now, but I've basically am so I could vote for Ron Paul back during the PA Primaries. I've been meaning to become an Independent again. I wanted to point that out for full disclosure of who's this is coming from.
I'm not a fan of the Republicans, but a lot of the comments have been really, really sick. Michael Moore, who I own all of his films and think is awesome, was thankful for the storm to hit since it would delay the convention. I got the joke, and he immediately realized how wrong that was to say, but still just sick. A lot of people are glad to see that the Republicans may have to shortened their convention and not do a lot of things because of the storm.
On the flip side, I can't imagine the outrage these same people would have if the Republicans said the same thing if the Democrats were in the same mess. Two sides of the same coin, really.
One idea being floated around, and I honestly hope this happens, is that the RNC becomes a telethon to help the residents of the Gulf Coast. That's honestly is a great idea because they have a massive national stage for which they can do a lot fo good.
I think that, right now, we need to put politics aside. There's a national emergency right now and arguing and debating the Republicans at this degree detracts from that right now. Let's focus on this Hurricane, make sure that everything works out... THEN we can go on about how horrible the Republicans are.
